Gmc grille question

I picked up a 71 Gmc with a badly rusted grille and I'd like to replace it, I notice alot of people buying 71-72 re-pops and taking all the black off. Will a 69-70' Gmc grille fit on a 71-72? I like the more chrome look too just seems like alot less black paint to remove.

Re: Gmc grille question

Yes, the 69/70 grill will fit on your 71.. the difference between them is the center cross bars are wider on the 71/72 and painted black.

Re: Gmc grille question

Yep,if I didn`t want the correct look with accent paint, which I like,I`d go with a 68-70 grille that was made to be all chrome. They look much better and don`t have the raised edges that border the accent paint.

Re: Gmc grille question

I did my new grille the other day, I to don't like the flat black, like I learned on this site I took acetone and rags to mine and about 30 mins later all chrome.
