Help Adjusting Door

I just finished painting my truck and am trying to adjust the doors. I had no issues with the drivers side but when I tried to do the passengers side I adjusted the door to the opening then installed the striker on the cab....and the door stuck shut. I had to use a dremel to cut slots in the back of the bolts to be able to unscrew them to finally beat the door open. I changed out the striker because I didn't have this problem before I painted and now have the same problem. My question is why is it sticking and how do I fix it. Any help is appreciated.

You didn't have this problem before and now you have the same problem? Huh? Do you mean, before you painted the truck you had the problem with the door, or you didn't and now you do? Did you take the door off to paint it? Need more info.

Re: Help Adjusting Door

Sorry for the confusion, I did not have this problem before painting. I did remove the doors to paint them and like I said no problems with the drivers side but the passenger side is fighting me all the way.

Re: Help Adjusting Door

It sounds as if the door is just out of alignment, and can be adjusted fairly easily. Did you mark around where the hinges were before so that you could put them in the same place? Since you painted it, they way to dod it would be with an awl and scratch a line around the hinge. The striker plate is also adjustable, in and out.

I'm worried I'm going to have this same problem... Except there is no way to mark it since I'm doing a cab swap.

Any suggestions?

Re: Help Adjusting Door

a trick i have used before is to take a small drill like a 1/8 or 3/16 and drill a few holes through the hinge and body.(at oppisite corners) then when you put the door back up after paint you can take a roll pin, steel dowl...etc and line the holes back up. this will get you real real close.
