Yes...another tire question

Ok, I'm not a truck guru like most of you guys. But I was wondering what the narrowest tire I can (or should) go with on a 3/4 ton 2WD? I have 265/75 16's, but I kinda like the narrow tire look. I wanna stay around 32" height. I have found that 235/85 16's are just a hair taller. But is this too narrow? I would be going from about 10.4 to 9.25"s tread width. I'm not sure what the load rating is spec.'ed for my truck.

Re: Yes...another tire question

Depending on what you intend to use the truck for, I guess, will depend on how narrow of a tire you can go. If you are going to use it as a work truck and load it, then I would not recommend thinner tires. You compromise many things when you go to a narrower tire, and load rating, and possibly safety, are among them. I would not run anything narrower than what is recommended by the truck's specs.

Re: Yes...another tire question

Quick check shows BFG All Terrain 238/85-16 to be same height as 265/75-16, and available in LR-E, max load 3042# @ 80 psi. It will carry anything your truck can handle.

Too narrow? No, not if you're looking for a narrow tire....
