Thanks. Buying a rusty set off of a 292 from a board member tomorrow for $30, can't go wrong. Do you have a write up of how you got the 4-barrel to work with your linkage.... And did your carb net a big imporvement in performance or mpg?

Re: 3speed column linkage clearance

I fashioned some linkage from steel rod. It wasn't pretty but it worked. If I had that part to do over I would have left the single 1bbls on there. Ran about the same.

I ended up going back tot a stock 250 to try to keep it original. I did use a Holly weber 2bbl on that and it works great!

Cool. Yeah I was wondering becuase I have the Offy intake already, but don't think shelling out $200+ for say a 390cfm is worth it, I'm just going to try and get the rochester to run good, and make the truck loud with the exhuast.

Re: 3speed column linkage clearance

The rochesters run good. Sometimes a little problem with them leaking. The holley weber will set you back about $70 but great simple performance. You just add a 1-2bbl converter and your good to go.

When you make it loud there are all kinds of combos of pipes or mufflers. I used set from a corvette that were the ones that fit just under the doors of the vettes. They were damn near like straight pipes but really gave that old time rap rap sound when you backed off the throttle. M neighbors hated them!
