Gas Tank Carpet ... Buckets verses Bench - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

A while back I was asking about the "Gas Tank" carpet. What I found out was the trucks that came with factory buckets...the carpet fastened on the back wall of the cab. The trucks with bench seats the carpet fastened on top the gas tank. Some of you knew this but not I but now I know.

Bench trucks did not have carpet, they had a cardboard piece that went over the gas tank. Carpet was for buckets only and was used to hide the tank, not ness. with a bench truck

Ok...thanks for the correction. What I do know is the factory buckets used carpet and I assumed the bench had carpet over the gas tanks as that is what is avaliable from suppliers. Geeee...just when I thought I was on to something....
