Factory roll bar....

Can the blazer factory roll bar be removed without taking off the top??

Anyone try?? As I'm about to find out. I'm hoping with the seats out I might have some wiggle room.

I only ask as I'm getting ready to remove all the seats for reupholstery, and lay some new carpet down. I'd like to remove the bar and respray it while I'm in there. I really want to avoid removing the top, as it's never been off the blazer in it's life, and the weatherstripping is pretty dry looking around the sides. I know if I remove it new weatherstripping is unavoidable. I'd rather skip another $3-400 expense at the moment.

I would think you could without the seats in.

That's what I'm hoping (fingers crossed)

I wouldn't mind removing the top, but I won't put it back on without all new weatherstrip, and that would just make my wifes day during the Christmas season

Well, if that is true, then they must have gotten the rollbar in with the top on, so it should come out the same way.

By the way, factory rollbar is a misnomer. I believe they were all dealer installed.

I've never seen one without.

When I say never removed,,,,I mean since the truck was sold and left the dealership, thought that was a given

I assume by common you mean a factory type??

I've seen some strange looking ones, with pins holding the rear bars in for a quick release type system, and I've seen others where the rear bars extend straight back and run along the side windows for a foot or so before heading down towards the floor.

Mine is nothing like either of those. My rear section heads straight towards the floor from the front bars, and is barely visible through the side window at all.

I have that ready to order as well as a few other misc items I need, like wiper blades, rubber bumpers for the doors and hood, transfer case mount etc...
I'm waiting to make sure I have everything I need so I can place one order. Seems every time I dig into something I find some other little thing I need, it never ends.
