No, not supermodels, truck models! Sorry for all of those that I got excited with my subject! :p

I have never really kept up on trucks since I was mainly always a car person. So I know this sounds pretty amature because it is. But I was wondering if someone could help me better understand what the difference is between models.

I have a 82 Scottsdale K10

What is the difference between a C10 and a K10? What's the difference between a Scottsdale and Silverado? What about the difference in models like the C10 or C20?

I think,

C series are 2 wheel drive where K series are 4x4

Scottsdale, Silverado, Custom, etc are trim levels

Here is how I understand it, I may be wrong (it's happened once before)
C=2x4
K=4x4

C10=1/2 ton payload
C20=3/4 ton payload
C30=1 ton payload

Scottsdale and Silverado are trim packages. Depends on what years you look at. I think in the 70s Scottsdale was the top of the line. In the 80s Silverado was tops and Scottsdale was bottom to mid-range. I'm sure someone will have more detailed information for you though.

I dont know about the older models, but in the 80's the Custom Deluxe models were bottom of the line (stripped down model). But you could add options, so you would kind of have to judge these trucks based on what options were purchased.

yeah custom deluxe came with the three on the tree or the th350 they had vynal seats and no options except for a radio. They had no carpet on the floor nor plastic interior trip or headliner trust me i have one LOL

Mine came with:
Carpet
305 engine
sm465 trans
dual gas tanks
and probly a couple other things Im not thinking of.

EDIT:
My truck also came with gauges (non-idiot light) w/o the clock.

Any Custom Deluxe should be looked at to see what options it was actually purchased with. I have seen them vary so much.

Well, my 1986 Custom Delux cam with a 4.3 V-6 with a TH400, PS PB and AC. And that's about it.

I'm beginning to question whether i should've bought a less equipped truck...less things cheaply done from the factory to worry about and upgrade to aftermarket stuff. Here's my K5 Silverado's list in random order:

AC,PS,PB,PW,tilt steering, intermittent wipers, cruise, delco digital radio with equalizer and clock, tinted windows, headliner, carpeting, cold climate package, towing package, diesel engine options and a number off oddities in the driveline and under the hood.

Silverado appears to be highest trim level from 1975-87 and the Cheyenne Super was the highest from 73-74.
