lol had to laugh, lots of things cool about our old trucks but being able to sit in the engine compartment is one of my favorites.

Re: old lady took photo. nothing says usa like this.

That's a typical position for me. Glad my inner fenders aren't too great, 'cause they're scuffed up with my footprints.

Be careful though, I busted a heater core this way. Must've hit the pipe pretty hard.

That's what I LOVE about being 5'5". That's how I work on my Chevy, the Pontiac but not my VW's. The only thing I ALWAYS forget about is the latch; you hit your head on it, drop down and then get whacked by the core support

My "new" truck may not have a lot of room under the hood, but I've never had to fix anything on it either

Nice lookin' truck you got there

They could have made a smoother surface there.I get ridges in my skinny arse.I learned to watch the heater hoses the hard way.

Re: old lady took photo. nothing says usa like this.

its really the ONLY comfortable way to work on the back of the motor or firewall. its at a strange angle that hurts my back, so why not set there..

just don’t try it with a hot radiator, you will burn your ass ..lmao

I am sure going to miss the weather that is for sure. Im moving to Chicago next month. NOOO the truck will not be driven in winter, I cringe at the though of fighting the rust up their…ugh

Gotta move up to Chi-town,eh?Keep`er dry and out of the crud and it`ll be fine.Let`er bask in the sun whenever possible.

Yeah,my back can`t take alot of that leaning-in and reaching-out stuff, either. It`s definitely the only way to do it for me.

Re: old lady took photo. nothing says usa like this.

My old back won't handle sitting up there like that. I always discouraged my students from doing it as I felt it wasn't professional to work on a rig like that. Wish I had a photo of two of them sitting under the hood of a square body Dodge with one on each side of the engine. All you could see was their heads sticking out.

Re: old lady took photo. nothing says usa like this.

Hmmm...looks familiar. Did that when I changed the heads in the truck last summer. Its really the only way for me to get to the back of the motor, as the top of the fenders hit me about mid chest. Its not really too easy getting a torque wrench on the rear head bolts though!!

Moving to Chicago? You are not getting forced are you? I lived up there for year and a half. You wont be sitting under hood this time a year up there. Buy you a beeter and park your truck. Good Luck.

Re: old lady took photo. nothing says usa like this.

i love havin room to sit under the hood on these trucks, and the squares too. both of our trucks have lifts and good size tires so the only way to even reach the valve covers is to hop up in there haha..and it comes in handy to have a freind to run tools for ya so you dont ahve to climb in and out all the time
