body mount
did someone ever mount a 88-89 truck body,long bed to a 73-87 frame?
is it doable? a friend is asking; he need to know before he start his project |

Iv'e seen it done, not sure exactly what needs to be changed. Body mounts at least....

Do you want the solid front axle in place of the IFS or are you making a 2-wd new body style truck a 4x4 with this swap?
You may run into some clearance issues like when putting a 67-72 body onto a 73-87 frame but it will probably just take removing the body mount brackets off the square body frame and installing them onto the new body style frame. A 2" or 3" body lift might be needed depending on the frame contours. I don't know how wide the new body style frame is but you might get lucky and be able to simply swap out the mounts. You may have to do some heavy fab work to build new body mount stands though if the width is too far off.
