Breaking in problems, or did I do something wrong?
Installed CCP; tubular lower and upper control arms kit, then upgraded the front brakes to disc brake kit. Not sure why I am noticing a 1/4 inch drop on left front. Had it gone over by mechanic friend, and aligned. Drives and brakes straight. Steering has been great since I bought it. Where do I go from here?
700 R4 I put in pulls strong, but does that lugging thing around 40-45 or so. Before that and after that point, nothing odd. Normal or was the tranny switch set correctly, tv cable? Just got it on the road a few days ago and DONT want to mess it up. Wife would kill. I appreciate it. '70GMCStep '70 GMC Shortbed Stepside '65 Chevy C-10 |

Do you have a vacuum switch on the lock up ,try touching the brake pedal to disingage the lock up to see if the lug dissapears

I pitty da fool who messes with Mr. T! circa 1978
As for the 1/4" drop drive it for a while things tend to settle. If it is still a problem in a month or so how about adding a 1/4" shim. Can't offer any advice for the 700 R4... I am a Muncie kinda guy. |

Sometimes its the rear that will cause the front to be off a little. I would definitely let it settle for awhile and see how it goes....if not you can try swapping coils side to side to see what happens. Little bit of time but no $$$$

Re: Breaking in problems, or did I do something wrong?
maybe wire in a switch for your converter lockup . that way it will only lock up when you want it to. i have a 200r4 (similar OD trans) and it did the same thing until i wired in a toggle switch to activate the lock up . now i only use the lockup if i'm at highway speeds

Re: Breaking in problems, or did I do something wrong?
Liking the toggle switch to activate plan. Think I'm going to slip in a tranny temp gauge while I'm at it from what I hear about 700 r4's, if nothing else, some more peace of mind. Going to let the beast roam around and see if the suspension takes it's place. I appreciate the help!
That was just a little humor about my wife earlier on my part. She comes from a gear head family and helps in the garage. Good lookin' and knows a way around a garage...priceless... lugging is usually normal for overdrive trannys at the point of lockup.
under light or partial load i would say its normal. |
