Polyurithane bushings?

Is there a real good reason for using polyurithane bushings? I have a set for everything in the suspension but why? Is there a real noticible advantage?

Re: Polyurithane bushings?

They don't break down (fall apart) like the stock ones do. They are supposed to absorb more then the stock ones as well.

Re: Polyurithane bushings?

I talked with a tech at NO LIMITS (great company, great guys) and asked that same question...his response was that it would improve handling, but not near enough that you would notice...unless you were using them on a baja race truck...in other words, yes they help, but probably not enough to justify the expense...he reccomended a heavier sway bar up front and adding a rear sway...as I said earlier the guys at No Limit are great and willing to take several minutes to help with your tech questions and their price is very competitive...and no, they didn't pay me to say that!

Re: Polyurithane bushings?

Polyurethane is much harder than rubber so you get less chassis flex. That's great for a performance vehicle, not that big of a deal on your truck.

The down side of true polyurethane bushings is the squeak. You can lube them, but eventually they will start to squeak again.

The best solution is run polygraphite bushing. This is a combination of polyurethane that is graphite impregnated so it self lubes.

Re: Polyurithane bushings?

You'll eventually have squeaking. I opted for polygraphite bushings. Best of both worlds. If you push your truck hard enough you feel the difference. My front suspension is tight! The truck pushes back or does not push into body swaying. I feel like a pinball in my truck. the tires give way to squeaking before the trucks starts to lean like a stock truck.

Re: Polyurithane bushings?

I just got through replacing the upper bushings on the a arms of my tan truck. I dont know what happened, they just came apart. The ones on it were the ones that came with the DJM arms (black) and had spent most af their life just sitting. I put them on my tan truck, and had to replace both uppers in less than 100 miles. I figure the P O who installed them didnt lube them right for install. IDK, hopefully the new ones (red) will last longer.

Re: Polyurithane bushings?

I have steel bushings... even my big ol truck has like 0 lean in the corners. all the give is in the tires. Maybe some of yall should try out some of the 3/4 ton parts on the 1/2 tonners. The only rubber in my front end is the sway bar bushings.
