Interesting 69 CST part-out...

Parted out this blazer yesterday. Only had a few hours before closing but i did what i could. Notice the CST side markers without any light provisions. I also don't recall ever seeing both transmission option codes for the auto. I also don't recall seeing a BK for the start of the vin. And just to top it off, i think the seats are the 69 only maroon color. Enjoy the pics as it is already squished by now...

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

Funny part is i have tried to buy this over the last several years when it was running and driving. I guess they took out the running gear and put a newer blazer on it. (square body). Here is a pic of a sticker in between the double top also. Last pic is the window frame i saved.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

Wish stuff like that would come up in my local junkyards. I could have used the rear hatch! If you happen to sell the seats let me know.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

Rear hatch was junk... It was busted all the way through where the handle would have been... Also busted up some by the hinges.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

the M38 is car RPO talk for TH350 if memory serves... I've seen it on a few truck SPIDs, but never any documentation of it. It was supposed to be the M49 for TH350 or TH400.
That BKS is just weird.

It does suck that they end up there. I am just happy the owner lets me in to buy parts. The last owner let no one in for anything!
I think the front clip on the burb was junk also. Look in the second pic and you will see.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

Sad. My Blazer is also a BKE149S vin, made only a few thousand units before that one at the same plant. The "B" prefix is still a mystery; it is on the doorjamb plate as well:

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

All i can think is the B was for blazer. I didn't look at the door jamb vin to see if it was the same.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

I have only heard/seen this on '69s. Since the Jimmy came out in 70 it might have never had strange characters added to the VIN.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

"B" was for for Blazer as mentioned, was a 1969 thing only, first year production for Blazers.

Re: Interesting 69 CST part-out...

Turns out this one is a Pennsylvania only package... something to do with registration and titling a 3/4 ton truck on a 1/2 ton registration or something....
