Original 2wd Blazer frame in salvage yard

I heard this Blazer was in our local Pic-n-Pull so I went to check it out. First off let me assure you that there is basically nothing worth getting off of this thing OTHER than the frame and possibly the windshield frame, it looked decent. As I was getting there a guy was pulling the rear 5-lug 12 Bolt (he wasn't taking the trailing arms), the seats, and a few other odds and ends. I got the front carpet strip and fuel tube cover. I looked over it the best I could and the frame *seemed* to be straight and original. When I left it had the power steering box still there and an automatic transmission still bolted in. No A/C, no tach, no tilt, etc. BUT if someone wants a decent original 2wd frame it is sitting there. I asked the guy at the counter and he said they ask $115 for a frame but I believe the customer would have to remove the tub and take JUST the frame for that price. By the way, the tub is pretty much toast. Just thought I would pass this along so maybe a board member could take advantage of it. I looked over it pretty well so feel free to ask me questions.

Re: Original 2wd Blazer frame in salvage yard

I thought about it but I don't have any desire for a 2wd Blazer (a swb truck is a different story ) and yeah I could probably go get it with hopes of reselling it but I doubt I would clear that much money especially when considering the time it would take me. I am really hoping there is someone around that wants it, I would hate to see it crushed!

Wow! Those seats were toast, but they sure as heck would have been better than nothing. I propably would have pulled the I.D. plate off of the doorjamb as a souvinier, but I am wierd and like wierd trinkets like that.

Wow, I wish it were closer. That's a steal for the frame, but I could REALLY use that windshield frame.

No, but I bet it would be under $300 (just guessing) they are purely worried about its weight and what it brings as scrap.

I thought about it but didn't have a drill. It hurts me to see any old truck sit there in that condition, that's why I was really hoping someone would at least go salvage the frame and give it a good home.

That's very tempting, but I'm not in any position to get it back to Houston right now. Too bad!

Re: Original 2wd Blazer frame in salvage yard

Sorry guys, I just don't have the time to mess with gathering parts. I will be happy to give you the info and location of the place if anyone wants to call them. I *THINK* you could call them over the phone and have them pull it aside for you. I saw a couple signs posted that lead me to believe that but I could be wrong. Wouldn't hurt to try!

Gearhead, PM sent back

Re: Original 2wd Blazer frame in salvage yard

Call them back and ask if they have a 72 SUBURBAN. I remember seeing "72 suburban" written on the bed side with grease pen. I remember thinking it was odd but didn't think much else about it. Maybe it's in their computer that way??? If it does show they have one, you can probably assume it is actually that blazer because they DIDN'T have a 72 suburban at the time. Sorry, I should have thought of that before.

Re: Original 2wd Blazer frame in salvage yard

I had some extra time today and went out to Pick-n-Pull to look at the Blazer. I got the windshield frame, it is in very good condition, no rust, dents etc... I was in-n-out of there in under an hour, not bad for an 'old' man Even the Pick-n-Pull guy said, "You cut it with that tool?"
Enjoy the pics, BTW my Blazer really needs some tow hooks, I would consider trading this for them I cut it down as low as possible. Enjoy the pics. The last pic is of my friend that helped me cut it.

Not much though, I also got the speaker cover. It looks like it had a speaker hanging down, I think. As little as it has left, I bet it will go to the crusher very soon.

One more thing, I found the driver door in back of a Suburban behind the Blazer if anybody needs a door. It was in decent condition, and it was already taken off
