Tomorrow I'm going to be buying a 67-72 Chevy Truck tailgate. I want to make sure that I dont end it up buying a 73-87 one. I know what a 67-72 looks like but I never seen a 73-87 tailgate been up close.

What should I look for?

what about 60-66 chevy truck tailgate? I dont want to buy one of those either

all 3 are easy to tell apart the basic contours of the metal is different in all 3 i suggest that you go to the 60-66 and 73-87 forums and see the differneces yourself.

If you know what the correct tailgate looks like, then you shouldn't have a problem I would think.

They are pretty different..

1958 - 66 fleetside.

67-72

after 73

Thanks everyone for your responses!. I was looking for pictures of tailgates at the 60-66 and 73-87 forums but most members take pics of the front or side
of the trucks and not too many of the tailgates. Anyways the pics that northerngmc posted helped a lot. Thanks again.
