I have been gathering parts for my sons 1965 build ,well he told me he dosen't
want it he wants my 04 silverado instead. now that isn't my dilemma ,the dilemma is which way to go with the build now.
1 completely redo body and paint,2 straighten body and flat paint.
static drop or bag it and lastly bbc,sbc,or ls engine.

all right I think I've made my decision . gonna go with the big block,static drop , and
straighten the body satin black. what do yall think?
goin to use the cab from the red primer one and frame from the other.

That sounds like a good plan to me. One suggestion though, before you decide just what springs for your front, put that big block in there and see just how much that extra weight lowers it.

Keep us posted with your progress....with pics of course.

And make your son sign a release so once he sees how cool the 65 is he still keeps the 04

Nice dilemma, but I think you let your son off a little too easy. Perhaps he should join in on the fun, redoing the '65 and in return he gets your '04. It will be an experience he or you will never forget.

I think having him "buy" the silverado with elbow grease payments may be a good idea.

that guy is totally clueless that his dads trucks value is waaaay higher than those he wants to trade for. As for bbc and static drop, the motor is heavy but not to the point of drastic difference in spring height. I had a 454 with 1.5 coils cut off the stock springs and it sat just right!

trust me he isn't gonna get of easy ,and he is a good garage helper most of the time. he got his own tools for xmas

I kind of went through a similar situation with my 17 year old, I spent 2 years building a very nice 240Z for him and he drove it for 6 months and then wanted to sell it so he could buy some low rider Jap truck.

I took the Z back and bought him a beater datsun truck that looked and ran like crap and told him to get a job and fix it up himself

I am currently building a 1960 Chevy pickup for my 12 year old to drive when he is old enough, hope he appreciates it.
