upper and lower control arm shafts
I have found the torque is 130 lower and 95 upper.
my question is my front nut seems to rotate with the arm up and down. The lower nut does not. why? should I some how fix this? I am not sure 100% on the proper procedure for installation but I tried to screw on both nuts an equal amount. |

Re: upper and lower control arm shafts
Once the nuts are threaded into the arm and cross shaft, the nuts will rotate with the arms as one unit. They are riding on the internal threads of the nuts, on the cross shaft thread.
If you have the lower nut tightened and keeping the cross shaft from spinning, the lower nut does not move up and down with the rotation of the arm, you have a major problem. Think of the nuts as being one piece with the arms once installed.

Re: upper and lower control arm shafts
It was threaded on and off easy, It is not binding and not stripped.
why could it not be tighter on the shaft and stay still with the center shaft and have the control arm pivot around it? Also front to back how do you make sure both nuts have equal tension. For example front to back. They are both torqued properly btu was wondering if you could have one threaded on the shaft further on one side. Like the one that is not spinning may not be on as tight or vice versa |

Re: upper and lower control arm shafts
Is this the reason some people tack weld them?

Re: upper and lower control arm shafts
Pretty easy fix, I found that the stationary cap was bottoming on the shaft and not the arm. Make sure your arm is center when you start screwing the caps on
