How do you change the window felt?

I am changing all the seals for the windows on my doors. I have figured every seal out except the felt one attached to the vent window. How do you go about removing the old one?

You cut the cloth at the edges and scrape it out. The new ones glue into the channel once you have it cleaned up. WES

Any good weatherstrip glue. Gorilla, 3m, All parts stores sell it. Just do not use silicone based adheisives. WES

Re: How do you change the window felt?

Yes I do offer the replacements. The division bar felt (the one we are talking about here) just gets glued into the channel. No other parts needed. The channel run is a friction fit that does not require adheisive of any sort. The squeegee, and fuzzy otherwise known as the anti rattle set comes with the clips needed preinstalled. WES

Re: How do you change the window felt?

When you replace the division bar felt does the door glass (the glass that goes up and down) have to be removed?

Re: How do you change the window felt?

Yes it does. The Vent window assembly should be removed to ensure propper cleaning and installation. WES

Re: How do you change the window felt?

since we're on topic, can the outer window seal on the door at the bottom of the window be replaced without window removal? Looks like it just pushes in. Does it also have to be glued?

Getting water in my door when it rains, and it bubbled my door panel a bit (Grrrr!)

Yes, they just clip in. The old ones were hard to remove though. Maybe someone else has a tip on how to remove them.

Re: How do you change the window felt?

I don't mean to hijack the string, but it seems to fit really well.
Had to discontinue my project for a couple months, so can't remember the particulars. But, when I put in my vent window rubber, it seemed really difficult to seat at the bottom corner. I figured it would seat itself after a little while but it didn't. Now, with the vent window all put together (on the door and everything), the bottom of the rubber seal bows out/up at the bottom. What can be done?
