Blazer fuel tank in '63 K15

Hey all. I'm looking for any last minute advice I can get with a '91 Blazer fuel tank that I may purchase tomorrow.
I'm gathering parts to swap a '97 454 Vortec SFI engine into the '63 and need to build a fuel system. I think that the Blazer tank will work with the fuel injected engine but am not sure if it will fit because I have not seen the tank to be able to measure it. I have to go take it out tomorrow at 9:00 am and the seller won't measure it for me because it's raining right now. My question is this; has anyone done this swap and is there any frame
trimming/modification that needs to be done to get the tank in there? Thanks a million in advance for any input and I swear I'll post a thread on the swap when I start it!

The tank from a '91 Blazer should fit without too much trimming, That is the last year of the K5's so the frame is essentially the same width as a pickup. I don't know for sure but I believe that the Vortec 454 may require more fuel pressure than the '91 pump will put out.....I may be wrong though.

What happened to the 6.0 swap?

The 6.0? Well, after a little soul searching, the 6.0L turned out to not be exactly what I wanted. I'll be doing alot of towing with this truck and I think the 7.4 will be alot better for the relentless flogging that I'm gonna dish out. If the '63 was my DD, I'd probably run the 6.0. I also like the fact that the 7.4 will almost drop in with little modification to mounts, exhaust ect. I really couldn't pass this engine up though - complete with all accessories, computer and harness in trade for a $150 Scat crank. Just wish I'd have figured it out before I rebuilt the 6.0.Guess I better change my sig!

Yeah I wouldn't pass that up either!

My son has a '96 GMC 2500 with the 7.4 Vortec and IMO it has good power for towing, and my son hammers on it every chance he gets too. Only issue he's had with it was an ate up distributor gear. I guess that's not that uncommon with the newer roller camed engines.

I'm pretty sure you can upgrade the pump in that '91 tank if need be. I know that the 5.7 Vortec's require a minimum fuel pressure of 62# if I remember correctly. I just don't know for sure on the 7.4's

I'm thinking that I'll be using the "in tank pump" as a "lift pump" to feed a higher pressure pump that makes @60# like you said. I'm still researching it though. BTW I just found out that the injectors are easily swapped for other higher # per hr units that are readily available to free up some power. Maybe getting ahead of myself though.
