Can I go from a steel to wood bed?
Front, sides, wells, tailgate the same? Can I just pick up the cross pieces and steel rails for the bed and swap it in?
Reason... steel bed is rusted to... I can see through it in too many places to patch. I don't want to drop a grand on a replacement bed, nor have I found a good yard one. Two thoughts are swapping in a wood bed or picking up some diamond plate and bedlining it. Trip |

I just did this on mine. All you need is a new front panel for wood and the rear cross sill for wood and the cross sills that run under the wood like your steel bed has. Tailgate and wheel houses are the same and the inside panels of you bed side. Hope that helps

Re: Can I go from a steel to wood bed?
Thanks! I'll have to look at the Mar-K kit. If the bits and pieces were the same (the cab end needs replaced or heavily repaired anyhow) I was thinking of posting for anyone converting the other way or parting one out...
Then again, I may just get steel strips, and the wood bed trim, weld in the steel and bolt down the trim to give it the look... ~Trip |
