Already talked to them. They don't stock the motor I want so if I order it and pick it up at the store there isn't any shipping charge.

Looks great. What are the extra leads coming off the battery for?

Also, what brand are the battery connectors? Where did you buy them?
Thanks

FANTASTIC. Truck is looking great. How did you transition the paint under the cab? I've been trying to figure how I'd transition from my smoothed/painted firewall to my planned black undercoating under the cab...with the supports that run up onto the firewall that will be painted.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Latest update: I have my 383 installed and the exhaust is in place. I'm running Flowmaster Super 44s. These mufflers sound AWESOME! Loud and aggressive! With current tuning the motor has has been started 10 times. The last 4 or so times it ran no less than 20 minutes. The aluminum radiator and electric fan keep temp under 170. I took it down the street a couple times, stopped and hit the gas nice and firm. Oh my! Promptly lit up the tires and put a huge smile on my face! I'm sure my 700r4 w/3k stall and 373 gears had a lot to do with it. I'll wait till I get more miles on it before doing too much.

I do have a question for you BP owners. I can't seem to get the shake out of the motor at idle. Take a look at this video. Watch the air cleaner shake side to side. Is this the cam or does the carb need tuning?? It sounds great and has plenty power so I'd be suprised if it's out of tune.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Looks pretty smooth to me. I'd say it's just the lumpy cam. I had an 80Z28 with a comps 268XE that shook like that. And that's not an agressive cam. I had a 700R4 with a 2250 stall and used it as a daily driver putting about 35000 miles on it in a year and a half.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Big-blue: Extra leads are for headlight relays, electric fan relays, 4 gauge amplifier lead, stereo hot lead so it gets a full 12v from battery once on, lead to stock distribution block/fuse panel and the starter lead....

Johns72c10: The are scosche battery terminals, and lots of places are finally starting to carry them now including Sears?!?

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...5x000001&aff=Y

VA72c10: I still haven't sprayed under the cab yet, but mine is more of a "cab on" conversion and am just spraying my way around as I go, it will just be paint underneath the cab, although I should think about undercoating

Austx68: I have only had mine running twice, once for the 20 minute 2000-2500rpm "after dyno break in" (which makes no sense to me) and another time to bring things up to temp and listen to the exhaust after I clamped it up for the first time. Mine does have that lumpy shake as well, and it makes me worried that the timing is off; but anything lower than 14degrees at idle and it just gets worse so I think that it is just the cam and characteristics of the engine. It's funny, I spoke with Marshall/Blueprint about the dizzy coming with the vacuum advance hooked up and they said it would be fine with it attached as long as the advance never got above 34 degrees. Well for one, it idles like crap with it hooked up and two, it wants to hit nearly 50 degrees with it hooked up which isn't good!! So why does it come hooked up? Very odd... So I have left mine unhooked so far, but wish to hook it up at some point for better gas mileage. I still haven't driven this thing as I am currently re-routing the rear brake line(damn headers)but your description of stabbing the throttle and getting tire spin coupled with what I have seen from just blipping the gas on mine makes me think this engine is nothing short of an intense tire roaster!! I just hope I can get above 10mpg with it...we shall see!

How timely. I stumbled across that engine and am thinking about using it in my K5. Glad to know that there are some satisfied customers out there.

Hey Jon, yea I'll go but my truck is going to the body shop tomorrow. Finally getting the exterior painted to match the engine bay and cab. Is there another meet planned? Give me a call.

I initially set my timing to 13 but later advanced it. Idles better that way. I'm guessing they want to protect themselves from someone running 87 octane fuel. Overall I'm damn happy with this motor and would highly recommend it. Has a very nice cam lope. With my Super 44 mufflers it sounds like race truck

Those are pretty neat...never seen them before! Does the digital readout on top of the + show voltage?

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

yep, great for knowing your battery levels while sitting out listening to some tunes, or when you question whether your alternator is working, etc. it shuts off after 1 minute of no voltage fluctuation or change and was a lifesaver back in the day of car shows where I did car stereo contests!...
