Original color or not?

I'm kinda curious about when you all painted your truck. Did you go with the original color(s) or did you change the color(s). I'm asking because I'm wanting to paint mine, but am torn about either keeping it original--blue/white or changing it up.

I'm keeping my k/10 original with white roof and dark blue body, and my c/10 with the original dark green

I am going with 1969 factory colors but it will not be the origional saddle color.

There's really no reason to, unless you've got a truck that's pretty original otherwise.

I’m not keeping my truck the original colour it came but I will be painting it a stock (1972) colour. If my truck was modified I wouldn’t bother with running an original colour though.

How do you find out what the original color part #s are?
And also, my blue is so faded, is there a chart/sheet that can show me what the original colors look like before being painted?

I used a factory color for 1971, but not the factory color that my truck shipped with!

My truck had a white exterior with a blue interior. Not a big fan of white, so I went blue on blue. Not quite factory, I went with a 90's GM Medium Blue.

Thanks Guy's I can tell you that on the internet look up the year and paint for chevrolet truck and you should find a color or colour for our good Canadian friends and you will find what you are looking for also look on the glovebox the sticker forgive me I know there is a proper name for it but I easily forget and it will tell you the origional color.

Look for the big red arrow to select the Year and Chevrolet Truck, it will then display the color palate available for the year.

I wouldn't consider a color change unless the complete body is stripped of all paint.

i agree with factory stock, color changes dont turn out well and are a pain right in the ... unless youve got the truck taken all apart so you can get color in all the little places. Thats why us body men charge more for a color change. But if you want another color and youve got the ambition, go for it!

if you are changing colors make sure that new color is sprayed everywhere. To me is such a turn off if I am looking at a vehicle and I can see the original color in spots where the new color should had been sprayed.

Paint it any color you want but make sure it is done correctly if not you will be ruining it...

Cab off Frame I agree the only way to change a color is to change the whole truck color. As you can see I really had no choice but to take it back to the metal.

i kept my interior paint the original olive green since it was in such good conditiion and painted the outside metallic cactus green with white in the middle and white roof

Whoa, dude, that's is some radical rot - you can't find a little better cab than that?

Yes it is major rot. I think I am testing my metal mans ability to make it like new at this point I think I have ordered a new floor with support, kick panels, toe board and firewall, cowl panel, lower cab rear patch panels, new roof, and inner front roof patch, and I am looking for a couple other pieces I am just not sure what they are. It is my grandfathers truck and I am using a different frame so the thought of using a different cab just sent my out of my comfort zone so here I go ordering more parts again today. Just wait I am sure that I am going to have to have at least one new door as well.
