Long into short bed.
I have seen magazines that have done this, is it as simple as they make it look? Do you jsut have to get the short bed side panels, and cut the frame? can you modify the long bed sides by 12 " to make a short bed?
I am really considering doing this if there will be no wrenches thrown into it once it has been started. Has anyone out there done this?

cutting the frame is easy, just 12 inches from under the cab, and 8 inches from the back of the frame, but cutting the bed is another story. I think that it would be a ton of work, and still wouldn't look right. Short bed sides are cheap enough, and you can sazall the bed floor to make it work.
Let us know if you decide to cut the bedsides, i'm sure we all would want to see that! Good luck david

I am looking at this as an option for the spare long frame that I have, also. It is not for those of us that cannot weld though. Efabman has a site with pics, and soon a video on how to cut the frame. Remember, there were a couple of different length frames, and one guy on the site cut 8 inches off the rear and it was to much, so be careful. I will look for the article on cutting the bed. I have it in hard copy, but not sure where I got it.

shortening the frame is no sweat, but the fleet box is a different story, i was going to get mine done at a local hot rod shop and the guy looked at them and said it would be cheaper to buy new ones
