"Creep" in neutral - have you had this happen?
!969 K20 with 4 speed manual. Fired it up this AM after a cold night in the garage to go yank another truck from a snowdrift. It was in 4wd low range. When starting to back up, noticed that it seemed to "drag" a bit, so put it in neutral to think about the matter, and noticed that, at somewhat fast idle, it wanted to creep forward ever so slightly - but noticeable. Did not have time to fool with it at the moment, so backed out, went and did the task.
Everything seemed to work fine out in the snow. Then, pulled onto smooth/level garage floor and, before shutoff, left it in neutral and got the same slight forward creep. I think the effect changed a bit depending on clutch engage/disengage. Has anyone experienced this? With the low temps, could it be very stiff gear lube somehow transmitting drive energy to a gear or shaft? Or, might there be some actual mechanical event going on in there due to wear factor, or need for adjustment, etc.?? There is no real thrust, so does not seem dangerous - just bothersome, because it is an anomaly. Any thoughts or explanations? Thanks. CCCC
