New truck owner and new to the club!

Hello,

My name is Charles Schandelmeier, and as of early January I am the new owner of a 1965 Chevy truck. I purchased the truck from my dad, who purchased the truck in March of 1978. My dad had done some work on the truck and had painted it several times with inexpenxsive paint jobs, but it was what he could afford. My plan for the truck is to basically do a restore/modify of the truck. We installed a new Chevy 350 in the truck about 12 years ago and it only has about 54,000 miles on it. I look forward to meeting everyone and hearing what you have done to your trucks and what and how you might have done things differently. I have some basic ideas of what I want, but nothing is set in stone.

A bit about myself:

I am 38 years old, married for 15 years and have 2 teenage boys. I live in Melissa, just north of McKinney. I own an aircraft maintenance company at Collin County Regional Airport at McKinney. I have been riding a Honda Valkyrie motorcycle with the DFW Valkyrie Riding Cruser Club, where I served as VP for 2 years. I have enjoied all the people whou make up that club both locally and nationally. Any club/orginazation is only as good as the members that make up its body. Being a mechanic I have always, and will ALWAYS, be of any assistance to anyone who needs help. I am willing to open up my shop for wrench/tech parties. I know that there are people in this group who have forgotten more about these trucks, than I will ever know. I do quite a bit of BBQing on the side as a small business and really cooking for my friends.

Thanks for being here and please be patient with all my questions, because there will be a lot of them.

Thanks, Charles

Charles:

Good evening and welcome to the forums from Kansas City, KS. Good story and thanks for the introduction. I collect and restore '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks and sell parts all over the country, so let me know if I can help you with anything in the future. It is very commendable for your to offer to help others with their projects. Good luck and welcome aboard.
