Cold air induction is always a benefit and usually a cheap and easy way to gain a bit more power and some better fuel economy. On the trucks cold air induction is actually pretty easy to do since there is more then enough room to do it.

I am going to do this to my Cutlass in the future and I am going to do it to my truck as well. Since it originally did have a cold air induction because it was a diesel. But the moron who put the 350 on it, put a choked down air cleaner snout on it and never ran the tube up to the core support where the bracket and everything are still at.

Too bulky? The box is only slightly bigger around than a 14x4 open air element. The tubes, 4" diameter, are not in the way for most things and if they are it takes about 10 seconds with a flathead screwdrivers to remove them.

I just cut the block off plate on the stock air intake at the radiator support. Im sure the air flows better this way (when moving). I have not had any problems so far. After the first few hard rain storms I checked to see how high the water would get (without the block off plate), it didnt even get half way up the snorkle.

It may not be as good as two, but its better then stock.

Here is the only picture I have of it:

You guys are braver than me. When I installed mine, I made sure to retain the baffles on both intake ducts. I would just hate to get water or crud up there.

My opinion is that the force of the truck moving forward cause a ram air effect around the baffle without a need for removing the baffle.

I bought my grille from www.aztrucks.com. It was $116.00, it is the polished grille. I bought it from them because they are local and not far from my house. I was able to save the shipping cost and get it right away (best of both worlds ). The brand is stull. It was recommended to me by a few other member. It is of great quality and the fit is perfect. I would highly recommend it, if your interested in a billet grille. They also have a brushed finished, if the shiny polish isnt your thing.

TX_Mudder:
I don't take my truck off roading. It does go off road, but not crazy like if it was 4x4. I have drove it at different speeds all around town in the rain and throw puddles to test it out. Water wont travel far up the tubes. Like I said it only goes about half way up and that was just little droplets.

I like the ram air box. I would get one, but there are too many other things I need.

Toonman, run a search here and on ebay. People modify them to make the stock a dual snorkle. I remember swervin did it, but he wasnt happy with the outcome. A guy on ebay had one that looked like it was done pretty well. If I remember correctly he welded on the second one from the inside and it looked pretty clean.

Blue Beard,
I have it on my '68, I cut holes in the rad support and ran the ducting thru to the upper grille.
Might be able to e-mail pics but the above description pretty much says it all.

Thanks for the Idea!! Right now I have taken a stock Air Cleaner and Hooked up a 4 inch hose to it and attached it to the Stock truck inlet in the core support. I then took the Baffle and hit it with a 2 1/2 Hole saw, so the Air has a straight shot down the hose, but still retains some protection from the Baffle!! Seems to be working great!! The Idea of adding a second inlet to the stocker has crossed my mind. As you said, if you welded it from the inside, it could look pretty good!! I may try that eventually!!
Thanks!!

as an alternative, you can try to find the old dual air induction from old Bel Air's and also Corvette's. They both have had dual cold air options since the 50's. Not very common though.

The "Japs" actually got the idea from us.
