Has anyone every built one of these?

I know that World Products makes these as a complete engine, but wondering if someone has every made one from one from scratch?

Just wondering if one of these can be built cheaper than what World Products is selling their complete turn-key engines for?

I only know of one. A friend built one in a Dart talldeck (yes, a tall deck sbc) aluminum raised cam tunnel block. His words were,, NEVER AGAIN!!. And that was in a block with raised deck. I know Dart makes a 9.325" deck iron block, (not sure what their aluminum block deck is assuming it is also 9.325 and can be decked to 9.25)

BUT, I've built a number of 434's in Motown blocks, ain't NO WAY I would grind another 1/8" inside that block for a 4.25 stroke. It apparently can be done, but I sure ain't risking it.

As a BTW,,, I have 235cc cnc Brodies heads on a couple of 434's out there and it is BARELY enough head for that much motor IMO. My Nova motor I use a set of Allpro 245 raised runner, 17° BES/Uratchko creations and THAT is just fitting for a 434. For a 454??? I really don't think anyone makes enough head to make it worth while!

434 is about as big as I've seen. I'm sure they don't recommend a power adder (turbo, SC) for this motor for a reason.

454 SBC does sound awesome, but not sure it's worth it.

like marv said as far as the "common place" small block cylinder head..... well they dont have anything, and if your going to spend that kind of money you might as weel get all you can out of it. wich would come at a substantial price. and i seriously doubt that you can build one from scratch as cheap as they sale them. your not gaining anything by the build except for you would be the coolest guy at the local cruise cuz you have a 454ci small block. you could easily exceed the power potential with half the budget of a actual 454ci bb. cam, intake, carb, headers and your stock bb is bumpin 500hp.... whats the world motor rated at? not much over 500 is it? i personally dont think it would be worth it. just my opinion.

Just do the math. The stroke to rod ratio should make up your mind. I hear the piston speed is crazy.

Getting into a small block with that much cubic inch is nothing more than a novelty. If you want 454 cubic inches get a big block. It will be a lot cheaper and make more power.

these are like the big inch big block stuff that EVERYTHING is expensive and custom. i know you can just order parts but they aren't sitting around like standard stuff. i would never spend the kinda money it takes to build one of these small blocks. if i'm dumpin that much coin. it would be on a 14* big block. even then i don't know if all those headaches would be worth it again

These motors from World Products are making 610 RATED hp out of the box. But Hot Rod Magazine and others have dynoed them at least 620hp. And this on pump gas as well!!

Yeah if I won the lottery I would buy one of the engines in a heart beat!!

I have a friend who has a fresh aluminum headed pump gas 489 bbc that he would sell for 5500. It has less than 50 passes on it. It ran 6.50's and 60's eighth mile in a 3300 lb car.

for the price you would pay for that engine you could still make alot more power with a big block for a lot less engine. were just putting the cost/power comparison into play.

sonny's has had a 932 out since last year. almost a hundred grand and 2100hp naturally aspirated
