I have a 69 c/10 2wd shortbed. I put disc brakes, A-arms, and power steering off of a 86 1/2ton 2wd chevy. I want to replace inner and outer tie rods. My question is do I have to get tie rods for a '86 or my '69? I was assuming for a '86 but I am not sure. Need some help guys! Thanks!

i BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR CENTER LINK AND PITMAN ARM AS WELL AS THE INNER AND OUTER RODS BUT iM NOT ABSULUTELY SURE, iM SURE SOMEONE WILL CLAIFY HERE IN A MINUTE.

I believe MB is correct. You will need to use all the 86 parts.

You get tie rod ends to match whatever steering linkage you used. When you did the swap, did you also install the late model tie rods and center link along with the spindles and arms ? If so, yes, get the later model ends.

Thanks guys. Yea all I got for the front end was the '86 a-arms and spindles with rotors and also power steering box. The steering linkage I have is still for my '69. My second question is can a power brake booster and master cylinder for a '69 work with this setup? Thanks Again!

If you are changing from drum to disk you will need a disc master and proportioning valve. I believe you will also need the front brake lines from the master to the caliper. for disc brakes. i think they are a different diameter line.

There is an FAQ on this conversion in the suspension forum. I didn't look at it but I bet most of you questions are answered there.
