Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
i m a little short on cubic inches but the only mufflers that they list for my 292 are cherry bomb glasspacks at autozone so i should have no problem sound wise im just hoping it sounds decent.

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
They should sound good. My truck needs some new mufflers. It has glasspacks and I'm pretty sure they blew all the glass out of them lol. When you wind it up you can hear it crackle.

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
yeah if i can figure out how to get my computer to upload vids from my camera i definitely will, on a different note..F^&%$$%%$&%$!! i bought a new horn and did all the wiring and bolted it in and it didn't work!!! then because my truck loves me, it decided that it will crap out the turn signal switch, at least i believe that s whats wrong, as all lights work with hazards on but front directional doesn't work when right blinker turns on....grrr. and still have to rebuild washer pump motor.

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
Haha wow good to know I'm not the only one in the VWs. My dad has owned thousands of them We just got rid of a bus a last year. He went to trade school to work on them and he still has random crap laying around. We have a dual port motor sitting under the workbench that hasn't moved in years. I plan on buying him one to fix up when I can get the money. Looks like you scored a good one! Hows the tub looK?

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
actually really good the floor under the battery is gone, which is pretty common for bugs. but the front frame horn and the strut towers which are usually bad spots on super beetles look mint! my dads huge into them too!! my dad has a 69 bug and two 75's. he also has a bus, unknown year, full of parts, u cant open the doors with out parts falling out hes already given me all the brake parts we need a clutch disc, spare tranny, and i can go thru thevan and garage to get what ever motor parts i need! so we besides a battery we might not spend another penny to get this running, im using adapters to mount some chevy 5 lug rims on the rear, havent decided on front tires yet, however as the fenders are in amazing shape im giving them to dad so we dont ruin them. ill take some more pictures of it today so u can see how nice it really is!

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
wideopenracing15 here are some pics of that beetle, as u can see its in great shape already did front brakes, i was working on the interior, so the back seat is blocking most the interior shots. the last shot is the only rust/bad spot in the car, looks really bad but will be a relatively easy fix.

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
seems brilliant minds think alike i think the things look cool, about as simple and boxy as u can get yet still seem like someone put a lot of thought into their design, lol maybe just me. me and my buddy are trying to figure out how to turn this into a baja bug with out feeling bad as it is in such great shape. we think were gonna take off everything we can, then replace with homemade stuff so we can save the good usable parts without feeling bad.
i just like how its a 72' like my gmc |

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
well hopefully i get time this week to work,on it but i have to save some for my buddies,as the plan was to make it a summer project with my buddies, however its in such good shape their ain't much to do. theirs three of us, so were thinking two were gonna strip it down to the bare pan and buildup from their, strengthening and rustproofing everything, i was thinking rhino lining the whole pan top and bottom and the other one probably me will rebuild the motor, im thinking dual carb 044heads as my dads buddy has some, 87mm pistons to make 1641cc's a performance cam, and bosch 009 dizzy.

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
put in a new starter, and fuel pump i like inline 6 fuel pumps a lot easier and faster to replace then my 350v8 fuel pump had a horrible time finding one went to napa, sanels, car quest, bond auto, autozone, and none had it in stock so just ordered one through napa.
