Where can I find...
...original style brake rotors for my 72 c10?
I'm talking about the ones that have the groove in them, both inside and outside. Is it possible to find these anymore? Or are they all smooth now?

Re: Where can I find...
They superceded them to the smooth rotors way back in the 70s. I'd bet you're out of luck trying to find some on the shelf anywhere.

Re: Where can I find...
That singular groove in the rotor was the wear limit indicator! If you junked them you threw away a perfectly good rotor. When those rotors had been turned to when the groove disappeared is when they were beyond using because they were too thin.

Re: Where can I find...
No... I'm not junking them. Just putting them on the shelf to save them as a momento or something.
The driver's side one is warped pretty bad, and I'm pretty sure that turning it would go past the wear limit. I was wanting to replace them with brand new ones that looked the exact same. I have decent pads on the truck now, but I'm pretty sure that replacing the rotors with new smooth type, but not replacing the pads would cause problems, since the pads have a ridge matching the groove, and that would have to be worn down before the total pads were making contact with the rotor.

Re: Where can I find...
Todd I was telling oldblue he junked a good set of rotors. The pads with grooves in them will wear in pretty quick if you put plain rotors on. If your not comfortable with that new pads are fairly cheap.

Re: Where can I find...
If your trying to make them look oe, I put a set on the brake lathe at work and put the groves in a new set of rotors. Also found out that after installing the new pad and tightened down the tabs on the outside pad, that groove gives some stability to the outboard pad to prevent vibration.
