Headlights

Are there any cool headlights for our trucks, like XENON? if that's what they are called, the ones like on the newer vehicles, that shine kind of blue in color? if so where can they be ourchased at?

I was thinking of doing the 7" diamond cut headlights. Then if you wish you can do the HID bulb conversion. This will let you do the different colors.

I used to run Hella headlamps with 100w/130w bulbs (properly relayed so you don't melt your switches), and they rocked. I don't think the LMC prices on those are so bad actually.

I also run Hella E-codes and have for 20 years.
Still have my original set and 5 other sets.
The set for my truck have city lights in them too.

There is a good article in this month's Rod & Custom .....

the guy took T3 lights and split them open, then siliconed the T3 lense to a modern reflector with H4 bulbs....

I may try it....get the vintage look with modern brightness and minus the rice.

I bought these years ago at the Good Guys Car Show at Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.
I dont remember what brand they where.
They are 7" Round Diamond Cut Sealed Beam Headlight Conversion with Halo Ring and Small Blue Single LED Bulb.
I had to make them fit. Cut the hole in the headlight mount bigger.
I wished I kept the box they come in.

Just search for more online. The passengers side Halo light is very dim. I have learned that you should not have the Halo lights on for a long time while driving, because they may burn out. Too much heat maybe. I used to have all three lights burning. I am going to buy another pair. The price has dropped alot now. Under $80.00 green stamps now. But if you do get a pair make sure you show it off at the night car cruisin's....

I put 8k HID's in my truck a couple years ago. I just bought some round headlights where the bulb is removable and an HID kit.

I have those and hooked them up to relays. The lowbeams on the 65 are brighter than the highbeams on my 2000 Tahoe. I think they are well worth it.

Where did you get that HID kit?

Sitting by the dock of the eBay. I get the cheapest kits up there, which now sit at about $37.99. I've have a set in my 91 Sierra now for 4 years and NEVER a problem with the ballast or bulb. My first HID kit I bought in 03 cost me $400! HID's (or what use to be referred to as Xenon's) use to be more of an aesthetic mod to me. Now my eyes are so use to them I put them in just about everything I own. Try jumping in a halogen headlight car after one with HID's, a WORLD of difference. But lets not make the on-comers upset...see below....

I too used LMC relays when hooking up my lights is the 66. I never used relays for anything else though.

Yes sir, I'm here to tell you that NEVER gets old!

But seriously, I have my headlights aimed quite low so that I will not harm the precious eyes on any oncoming drivers during the very few times a year I even drive the truck at night. God forbid someone would have to use the powers of squinting a few seconds for things like...ummmm, I dont know...the sun or the headlights of a diesel wagon.

And I'm sure it beats pissing ON them too

Thanks alot man! I want that TOTM trophy like you have though, I guess I have to come around a little more often. Maybe they will have a yellow month or something! Like most people, I have a "wish I never sold it" story. There is a 70 Monte Carlo in a couple of my "oh no, you'll force incoming drivers to require lasik surgery" HID pictures above. Man, I kick myself just about everyday for selling that car
