My dad and I decided that my truck look horrible with the huge gap between the bumper and the bed....so we tucked it in. Opinions? Take in mind that I've had the truck 2 weeks only.

Yes it does. If I wanted to I can drop the tail gate slamming it down and it wont touch. After several adjustments, we got the fitment just right.

He means the width. Look at where the bumper wraps around the bed, there is another gap there.

Can-O-worms buddy.... I analyzed this mod when we did it to my 82 Blazer. We determined that to make it look aesthetically correct you would need to narrow the width, AND section the ears.

If you hold up a 73-80 bumper, you will see what I mean. It's almost too short on the sides, but the 81-91 bumper look too long once it's pushed forward.

BTW- West Texas Z that does look good. Please ignore our anal retentive ramblings...

You know me Ken, anal and a good can opener...LoL

I am currently trying to find a chrome shop that can assist me with re-chroming my bumpers, with filled bumper bolt holes. Sure, I could easily paint the bumper, but chrome looks soo much better..and those bumper bolts are an eyesore!

Oh, one more thing...I decided not to tuck my bumper, but to build a full length gravel shield, and paint it body color...to tie the bumper to the truck better. Might go black with it too...but I don't know.

Also, along the can-o-worms line Ken mentioned. I think if the rear gets tucked, the front should too...otherwise the job looks half finished IMO.

Jeff you will need to tell your plater what you want to do. My understanding is it will be crucial to weld the holes with the proper wire/rod.

Once it is fairly smooth the plater will need to run it through the copper tank. Any imperfections will need to be welded up and smoothed again. One more through the copper tank to check for flaws and a good sanding. Then a final dip in copper before it goes to nickel, then chrome.

Another concern is ensure that the bolts welded on do nor bind or stress when tightened up. Any undue pressure will result in the bumper bolts showing through again.

But that's just what I hear...

Any interest in selling chrome smoothie bumpers? A chrome shop might give you a good deal if you bring them more than 2. I'm interested in getting one, im sure others would to.
