Question Charcoal Canister install

I am restoring a 72' GMC Truck 350 small block...Could someone explain how the lines (fuel line, pvc line, ect.) are suppose to be connected? what side of the engine compartment should it be mounted?

To the left of the battery, can't say how it should be hooked up though as mine had already been disconected by the PO. Hope this helps.
