Re: home depot frame paint

Rustoleum semi-gloss black has the right look for a frame paint.

I've used this one plenty of times on frames. I use the semi-gloss. The flat looks dirty and chalky fast if it is not cleaned often, and I don't like gloss frames, but the semi-gloss, leaves a nice satin finish.

Re: home depot frame paint

in my build thread, I recommended Rustoleum "Professional" flat black. I picked it up from Lowes.

really happy with the results.....

Re: home depot frame paint

Last two frames Ive painted (by hand) I used semi gloss black Hammerite. It works great, goes on pretty smooth with a brush and I believe I got it at Lowes.

Re: home depot frame paint

another vote for Rustoleum "Professional" flat or semi-flat ... thinned with acetone in a 50/50 ratio for spraying

Re: home depot frame paint

If you want a tough finish, I recommend a polyurethane paint w/ a hardener. It will be a tough finish like the old "Imron" paint. I wasn't the biggest fan of por 15. They do make a knock off of Por 15 now called Pro-10 or something like that. I see it for sale at swap meets and such. Trevor

Re: home depot frame paint

wowfiddy9! sick looking frame!

the "flat black" rustoleum I was reffering to was pn# 7578.

I like it because 1. it's oil based, 2. tough, and 3. unlike Por15, can be sand blasted clean without too much trouble. dropped a socket driver onto the frame from approx 2' up and no chips. good stuff in my book.......
