trans question

Quick transmission question. I want to put a sm465 into my '68 c10. It currently has the factory 3 speed and 292-6. I am wondering if the clutch, throw out bearing and all that will fit in the sm465. Also curious what I will have to do for driveline setup. Thanks guys.

Re: trans question

Main thing to worry about is that you will need a high hump floor section if your truck doesn't already have one.

Re: trans question

Ok, that makes sense. So I need to cut the old panel out and bolt on a new one? Where could I find a new panel? Or maybe its easier to make one? Thanks.

Re: trans question

Another question. How hard is it to swap a 5 lug 12 bolt rearend to 6 lug? I broke my 6 lug rearend(twisted the diff housing) so I do have my 6 lug for parts. Can I put the axles from my 6 lug rearend into the 5 lug?

Re: trans question

No, the axles on your 68 are shorter than 71-72 axles which is the year range you will find 5 lug axles.
