My New to me 67' (pics)

I just introduced myself in the welcome section and I figured I would stop in here and post up on my 67' She was a one owner bought new in 67 by a Chevy Mech and was taken care of very very well. There is not a spec of rust anywhere on this truck at all, and he went through everything about 1500 miles ago including motor, tranny, tc, body mounts, etc. I will be pulling the plow off and getting rid of the cap. The first thing will be getting the bumpers back to stock, and trying to add power steering to it and getting tires that are not weather checked under it. My long term goal here is to bring it back to a really nice resto but also upgrading certain things to make it a nice daily cruiser. It has the 283, 4speed with granny low, and has a weird gauge package that has what appears to be stock vacuum gauge under the dash. I am sure I will have a ton of questions so please bare with me. Thanks in advance

Erik

Nice. I think that belonged to a board member here... Sure looks familiar. Any pics of the gauges? The vac gauge would be from a c-40 and bigger truck. Not many 67 short 4x4s out there. Congrats.

Thanks, those dark spots you see on the truck are just wet spots that had not dried yet, there is a decent crease on the passenger side though

It's pretty rare to see a plow truck with no rust. Good purchase and welcome to the board!

Re: My New to me 67' (pics)

You guys have a great memory, my old man posted some pics of it up a couple years back when we first got it. I have "acquired" it from him and we just took it out of heated storage last week. As far as the gauge goes I will get more pics next week when I go up to get it, but I do remember the build sheet calling out some kind of "package" I think, of course I could be very wrong here. I m stationed back in CT now so that is why I am getting active on getting her right!

Re: My New to me 67' (pics)

do you work at the AVCRAD?

nice truck, I remember seeing it before... The vacuum gauge was found on the C-40 and up trucks but a lot of guys installed them in the C-30 and lower models... (so i've heard) Not many 67 4x4's made, only about 1,000 like your shortbed.

Re: My New to me 67' (pics)

Thanks Special-K, the plans when I get it home next week will be to pull the cap off (it is just not my style), pull the plow (not going to use it as a plow truck) and try to see what I can do with that orig paint as far as buffing it up. The tires are checked real bad, and I am not sure if I want to go 60's style rallyes or not. Other than that she will remain how she looks for the most part. From there the only thing that needs addressing that I know of right now is I have one brake grabbing real bad (new adjusters and springs already ordered) and I think I have a bad hub in the front. From there we will see how she cruises. I do want to add power steering but I have not looked into that project yet

I had to double check the date of the post, because I thought it was the old thread revived. It's cool that it's yours now and congrats on getting it home safe.

I forgot to mention this. I don't know if you know this or not, but in 1967 there was only 1,046 shortbed fleetside 4x4's built. So I hope your plans aren't to make it a 2wd
