distributor cap problem i think?

popped cap off to check the cap to see if thats why i cant go over 70 on highway but in town driving is fine.. then i seen on my msd cap that there is a thin trace at the back of the cap thats a perfect ring around it maybe like 1/2 inch from the 4 holding clamps.. so i just wiped it off and called it good.. then i popped my accel hei super pack coil or whatever its called and you know that little rubber circle with the spring and the button lookin thing? that melted a little bit of that plastic stuff on my coil and made the connecting point kinda bronze color.. so i think i found my problem.. i assume thats it?

Re: distributor cap problem i think?

I am not sure your cap is keeping you from going over 70 mph, but from what you described I sure would replace it.
