Re-building doors,window felts,scrapers,window regulators..Question
I'm going to attempt to re-line the windows and rebuild the window regulators and replace the vent windows. My question what would be the best quite insulation to use while have the doors apart? I assume you install the material against the outside door skin. It does not look like there is much room to accomplish this judging by the size of the dooe access panel. I have seen "Hushmat" and "Hushmat board" mentioned on this Board. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Dale

Re: Re-building doors,window felts,scrapers,window regulators..Question
I can't speak to Hushmat specifically but I have seen where people have put a section of mat on the inside of the outer door skin. I guess it's supposed to dampen vibrations in the door.
I didn't go that route. I just shot it with underbody shutz and that seemed to help some. And welcome to the board from an ex-Houstonian. |

Re: Re-building doors,window felts,scrapers,window regulators..Question
I used a product called Second Skin Damplifier . I did the inside of the doors with one sheet to each backside of the outer skin, and also did the panel behind the door panel, floor, firewall, backside of cab,gas tank, under dash, kickpanels, roof under headliner, and about everywhere else I could get it. It weighs a bit, but my truck with a 406 mechanical roller engine, is almost as quiet as my 95 Z-71. I think it is well worth the investment!

Re: Re-building doors,window felts,scrapers,window regulators..Question
You can use Dyno matt,E dead or Fat matt depending on what you would like to spend.
http://www.fatmat.com/ http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_24 I guess you can get 100 sq ft self adhesive fat matt off ebay for around $100 shipped. I plan to do everything possible to get rid of noise and rattles. inside/outside door skin...cab, inner fire wall, floor and behind gas tank if I can get to it. (My truck needs to shed alot of Db's...lol) |
