Help! Anyone know how to remove the shifter?

I've been taking my time trying to getting my truck ready but it seems like more parts are coming off than going back on (lol). This leads me to my latest delima. I believe I have the original transmission (4 speed manual) in my 62 truck and want to remove both engine and tranny (together) so I can install all the goodies from my dropmember kit. I have the front clip removed so I'm really not worried about room around the engine.. its the stick shift that is causing me some hesitation. If I leave it (the stick shift) attached, I'd have some weird angles and some rabbits to pull out of my bum to remove and re-install the drivetrain... and my bum is too small for small rodents to pass thru.

Push down on the cap, at the base of the shifter and rotate it, roughly 10-15 degrees and it will release and come out. I don't recall if it is clockwise or counter-clockwise, but they come out relatively easily. Good luck and let us know how things work out for you.

WOW! that did the trick! LilRed66, you are the man! I just pushed my thumbs down on the cap and rotated counter-clockwise. This will save me a bunch of digging around for another hoist.
