Honda Big Red. Need some trouble shooting help.

I was out goofing with the Big Red this afternoon while my daughter was riding her mini bike. I decided it was a good idea to back it up the steepest incline I could find. Suddenly I heard some terrible noise. I shut off the motor and looked at the left case. There was a chain spilling out of the top of it. Anyone know what the cover is called in the google world? I cant seem to find one.

Re: Honda Big Red. Need some trouble shooting help.

I think that's the shifter cover.
It's a little different from mine, which is an 84/85 model.
Is your's shaft or chain drive?
I have parts for both, but it's hard to tell from the close pictures.I think your's is an older model with chain drive.
Pull the shift levers and cover and see what's broke inside.
Mike.

Sounds like the drive chain is broke!
Means you need a new chain and sprockets, plus a cover.
These parts are still available at Honda!
I recently bought a new cam chain, cam guides and starter drive parts for mine.
I have two like yours, but the engines are gone.
Mike.

Wow I still can't find the parts. The old cover has a whole lot of jb weld on it. Must have happened before.
