What the HECK is she anyway?

Here's my situation, I had more money than common since when i drove by and saw this truck...I bought it NO questions asked and very little info told. Other than the truck bed not a whole lot a rust, cab has new corners and window seals which to me was great. Anyway the guy told me he put the chevy stuff on because it was easier to find and cheaper. And he put the '70's grill on cause he thought it was the best looking...BUT the truck has a door tag that says '72 GMC and thats whats on the title as well. And those are the only two things that show GMC. There is an extra set of wires for the other headlights. Which made me think GMC unless Chevy had two sets at some point, but i dont think so. So, there it is i'm trying to figure out what to do to get the title and truck to match closer kinda cheap. Its not a high priority thing cause no matter what im enjoying her and love driving her even though she makes me crazy sometimes. And if theres any questions or more pics you want to see tell me of what.

Re: What the HECK is she anyway?

the door frame tag and glove box have info. If title says '72 GMC and so does the tag...then its a '72 GMC.

Re: What the HECK is she anyway?

It has 72 doors, based on the little screw below the wing window, but the door panels are from 71 and earlier. It has the cable style throttle, so thats a 71 or 72 feature. The rear view mirror should be mounted to the windshield on a 72, on the metal above the windshield for a 71 and earlier. If the rear axle is mounted on leaf springs, it is most likely a GMC, though there are a few chevys that were optioned that way. If the rear end is on coils, it's a chevy.

Re: What the HECK is she anyway?

the passenger door is a 72. you can tell by the screw dimple under the wing window. the door panel is earlier model. 72 has rearview mirror glued to windshield, earlier are mounted to header panel. o ld money.

Re: What the HECK is she anyway?

sounds like a GMC... what's on the tailgate? engine doesn't look original and it has headers....

I say drive it like it is.. nothing wrong with that...

I'm originally from Fairmount, IN and my last house was in Morristown... welcome.
