Control arm bushings
I am rebuilding my front end and got everything torn down and ready to go back together. Getting the control arm bushings off was the biggest part of the job even with two people working on them. They almost seemed like they had locktight on them. Did they? I did some searching but couldn't find anyone mention putting locktight or antiseize on them. They have never been changed so I guess that could be it. I guess it wouldn't hurt to put some on the threads but I would rather not have to fight them that bad again if I end up rebuilding them in the future. Thanks for the help.

They probably didn't have Loc-Tite on them. It was more like several decades of corrision that had them held in. Next time try using a press...

I meant the caps on the ends of the control arm shaft. The threads had some white stuff on them, I thought it could have been anti-seize. Maybe it was just old grease that had turned white? Do you need to have something like that on the end caps?

The rest of the grease was red, it was only on the actual threads. So I thought maybe they needed locktight or something similar when I put them back together.

My bushings had a similar white substance on the outside of the bushing. Back in the old days, 60's and 70's, we used a substance called white lead that when mixed with engine oil we used for antisieze. After a few years and parts were again disassembled the residue was just a white substance that reminds me of old caulking compound.
