I hate to start a whole new thread on a simple question like this. Anyway is there a good way to customize a lock for the drivers side door on a 51'? I don't know why it does not have a lock. I really have not looked into this much at all. But I was going to buy new locks and they don't sell them with two for the 51'. also I wanna keep the original handles.

Has anyone done this yet? Was thinking of putting my own lock in.

The reason is that back then you entered a truck mostly from the right side from a sidewalk. The roads were mostly dirt and often muddy. It should have bee an option in 51. I know its an option in 55 and its the same door handle. Unless you have 50 or earlier doors then I don't know if its possible

I too have been looking for a set but I don't think they exist as a set, i know you can get one of them and drill the hole in the drivers door and install the lock facing backwards, opposite of the passenger door, then maybe a local locksmith can re-key the lock so one key fits both?.?.?.......
