68 GMC 1/2 ton frame swap

Ok Guys, I Need help, I have a 68 GMC longbed and an 82 GMC longbed both 1/2 trucks. Am I able to swap the 68 body on to the 82 Frame and have it work, Its a much cleaner frame and has a lot of the stuff that would get upgraded on the 68 anyway. From what I can tell there is a wheelbase difference but it only I think 3 1/2 Inches. Would it work, or am I just screwed and going to need to swap everything over to the 68 frame
