These blazers can still be found pretty cheap, my question is will they be worth as much as the 69-72 ones someday?

anything is worth what the market will bear.....supply demand....sentimentel value....they dont make 'em anymore.... the trends in the show area....these are all things that influence price...but forcasting what these vehicles will bring a few years down the line is along the lines or fortune telling......if you think you can buy them cheap and sit on them a few years till values go up and sell to make a profit more power to you....but you have to store them out of the weather or restore them to previous glory...you just cant have them sit outside and rust to death and expect them to hold value.....hind sight is 20/20....."wish i had bought those and kept them till now ...i could sell em an make a fortune" ... about 25 years ago 35 36 37 fords were junked becasue no one wanted that body style......now people are looking for something other than a 34 or 32 ford.....now the 35-37 fords are very scarce now.......few years ago you could not pay someone to take 73 -87 chevy trucks.....but now look....there is a market for these wonderful trucks...parts are plentiful for the moment.... we have aftermarket or NOS parts.....there will probably be a rebirth of sorts of the 88-92 chevy trucks soon...why you ask?....because these models will be cheaper in a few years...73-87 models will go up as good candidates are built for show....it all comes in cycles....and usually what is the cheapest at the moment is what will be the 'hot' new thing in a few years....

No, never going to bring the coin the first gen Blazers do.

I've definately seen pretty much all Blazers go for well over the KBB values.

Not to brag, but I will anyways. I just picked up a M1009 (military blazer) w/ only 36,000miles. 6.2L diesel, Th400, NP208, runs great, everything is smooth, & all for $2,000 out the door!

It does have its share of electrical gremlins, but I'm getting them worked out.

If they are CLEAN and original looking... they will always bring more. As well as the factory 2wd models will bring more as well... kinda like the stock 2wd SWB bring more than others trucks. JMO... I would give more anyways.

Maybe they will, and maybe they won't. That's really hard to predict, but it is probable that it won't happen any time soon. The 73-87 have been growing in value, but they are still a long way off from what a 69-72 Blazer brings.

Rodtruckdesign makes a good point. I will always buy what I like. Since I was born in '74, these trucks were the most plentiful while I was growing up, and most of my family members had one. Now that I have (relatively) disposable income, these are the trucks I prefer. I am not a big cheerleader of the 67-72 body style, so I would prefer a 73-75 Blazer anyday compared to a 69-72. Just my $.02.

I'm going to go look at a 74 tomorrow. He says it has the normal rust spots and a blown head gasket. He is asking $800. What else should I look for?

The main things to look for will be the rust monster, especially check the floors, rockers, and quarters. Also give the rocker boxes a good look, as they aren't reproduced. You will want to make sure the Blazer specific stuff is in good shape, but a lot of pickup stuff (drivetrain, front end and doors, etc.) can be utilized.

Thanks, I'll let you all know what happens. I basically want a blazer for summer cruising, camping, and for snow during the winter. My dd is a lowered 05 so I can't really haul or go off road with it.

My '75 had succombed to rust back in '98, so I didn't bring it with me when I moved down here. All of the Blazers I had that were pre-1980 up there were getting crusty, so it may be tough to find one up there that isn't already rusted to death. I haven't lived up there in 13 years; I doubt they have improved much with age.

Not anything anymore since I picked up the 2wd that I currently have... but I was going to offer you the samething. I constantly look around to see whats available... I will let you know if I see any here in town.

I expect to see the clean ones only increase in value.Right now in most areas they are still in the "in between" category where there are just outdated and not considered classic.Anyone with foresight will see these will become quite the collectible.Although there were way more made in the square body than the 1st generation,they are the only other 2dr,solid axle,removable top K/5s based on a true truck.The entire SUV market changed with the coming of the 4-door.Until then,Suburbans owned the market but they were too big for many and the 2dr Blazer wasn`t what a soccer mom needed since a baby was hard to put in the back seat.They are like land,they just don`t make them anymore.

Rust free in the northeast are almost impossible to find, rotted out to the point of almost no return are plentiful around me, but many of them are so bad at this point that it's hard to even get many decent parts off them. The cheapest one that's rust free I've seen for sale near me recently is currently @ $5000 obo. I paid $1300 for my '91 5 years ago but it needed tailpan and rockers replaced this past year. I think they are at rock bottom now, and will only go up in value from here. That's part of the reason I decided to invest into saving mine before it was too late. I just can't find a vehicle to replace it... They don't make them like this anymore. I think the 89 to 91's are the best ones made, last of the removable tops and fuel injection.
