275/60-15 tire on a 15x8 wheel?
I have 4 15x8 wheels on my truck, and 4 255/60-15 tires on it now. I replaced all 4 tires about a year ago, but the back two are getting kind of bald due to living on a gravel road, and my willingness to do burnouts.... I was thinkin of putting some 275/60-15 tires on the back, but would the look too big on a 15x8 wheel? I wouldn't mind a set of 15x10's for the back, but i really don't want to spend the $160 it would take to get a pair in the same style as the ones i have on the front. Does anyone have any pics of a 275 on a 15x8?

i don't have any pics, but 275 look really good on a set of 15X8 wheels. I believe that it is the best size for this wheel
good luck david

i am running 275/60s on 15x8 ralleys, with no trouble. They do crowd the width a tad, but leave a full footprint when the clutch comes up if I remember, the tread width is 8.8" on the 275/60, which would indicate that a 9" wheel would be about optimum.....but anything from 8-10 is fair game. crazyL

I have that tire on a 15x10 but a lot of guys on this board showed more appreciation for that tire on a 15-8 wheel. Either way, it'll fit just fine. It is up to your personal prefence now. Have fun

Thanks alot for the help. Those 275's look like they fit your 15x8's pretty good Palf70Step. I hope they give me that "big 'n little" effect with my current 255's i have up front. I guess i will put the wheel money into my welder/parts truck fund, lol.

I don't think you'll notice a big difference visually between the two sizes. 255 is a hair smaller in overall diameter...I think about .5 inch overall. Don't remember the width difference. For a height comparison, a 255/70 x15 is darn near the same height as a 275/60x15. which is about the same as a 235x15. Studied those heights so that my speedo would stay fairly accurate as I went fatter.

In the first pics, I have 275's on 8 in wheels. Sorry, my pics are too large to post. http://photos.yahoo.com/cruzn72@pacbell.net

I will also add to the pot. I went from the 255/60-15 to the 275/60-15 on an 8 inch rim. They fit and look great. They do appear to be quite a bit larger than my old ones. but I dont have them side by side to compare. You will like them!

Miket,
What size rim and offset are you using. I was at a tire store today and he told me I could get 295/50/15 on 15x10's. Will they fit under the wheel well?

Guys:
Thanks. Yes Siree Bob!!! I had 295/50's on my 67 GMC short wide....it had 15X10 Western Bullets all the way around...295 50's will fit no problem...If memory serves me the offset is 4" front and rear...I got my chrome rallies from Wheel Vintiques...i have a complete set of grey rallies that came off the truck I didn't paint it....bought it that way....I believe it is factory colors but not sure....

Thanks I need to check my offset now. I have wanted a wider tire in the rear but wasn't sure how wide would fit without sticking out of the wheel well.
