Just got parts from CPP!

mine is a drum truck so I guess that not going to help..wait even disc brake trucks the caliper is on the back of the disc why would the lie be on the front

trust me this thing has never been modified its a parts frame..it should run from the master to the proportiong valve then down to a T near the X memeber near the drivers feet the other is hard line back to rubber line then T to each rear wheel

So does the disc brake lines get routed in the front like mine or routed to the rear where the caliper is?

Ok, so im finishing up my rebuilding the whole front end of a 71 SWB frame that I bought from a guy locally.
I bought all the front end rebuild kit, springs, spindles etc. from CPP.
Well not thinking ahead after installing most of the parts, I came to the realization that I had nothing connecting the left tie rod ends with the right tie rod ends. DUH!! I need a center link!

So, I went to AutoZone, O'Reiley's, Advanced Auto and Napa. All basically had the same results. The center link is a "Non-wear" item. They show pictures but not the part number in all their catalogs including Moog and Rare Parts.

Does anyone know where to get a center link?

well I need the idler. But, I can find that in parts store.

I'm going to my my '72 truck for my '67 since the 1972 is a 1/2 ton and is already has the 5 lug setup. All I have to do is what your doing....replace the worn out front end suspension parts and lowering spindles and springs.

I might also need drive shaft(s). But, I don't know how hard those are to find, or how hard they are to modify to the right length.

I am also missing the steering shaft from the cab to the steering gear box.

But, as far as the front end. I believe the only thing missing is the idler arm and the center link.

Your setup is correct. The disk brake trucks have the caliper in the rear with the brake hose coming forward to the hanger for the hose/line transition.

I have the same 3in drop spring and drop spindle up front... I had to get upper A arms designed for lowered trucks because the camber was too much. CPP might make them but I got mine from Brothers

When I got my truck the center link was installed upside down & backwards (guess it mounts up either way). The outside wheel would crap really bad and the tie-rods would bind at full lock. Only took 2 years for me to post a pic and have someone here figure it out (shops around town had no clue). I have no rubbing issue with my 15in rally wheels either.

Anyway, now it rides perfect! Here's what you can expect the front ride height to look like:

Interesting. I haven't heard anyone having issues with upper A arms and being lowered.

Nice clean looking ride. Have any pics of your suspension?

As far as the upper control arms, I had no problem with alignment when I had 2 inch drop springs... but I wanted more

The alignment shop wasn't comfortable with the amount of spacers/threads left on bolts when adjusting for the 3 inch drop spring. Some shops may have another solution (longer bolts or something) or are ok with the amount of spacers or just leave a little extra camber. I wanted it done right, plus the extra castor of the new control arms helps it ride nice and straight.

I don't have the space to do suspension work at home and it would of been a lot cheaper if I put all the parts on the first time and didn't go to the alignment shop 3 seperate times (spindles, then 3 inch springs, then upper control arms and pay for all that redundant labor... just trying to save someone money if they find themselves in the same boat.

Thank You "chevytruckluver" for the centerlink. I haven't had time to put it on yet.

And yes you are correct. I just dropped my Lx motor on the frame this weekend. Man does it sit low.
The pic below has a piece of 2x4 sitting under the control arm to give and idea how low it sits.

Here is the Lx engine. Lot of work needs done. Need to strip it down, do some paint, and eliminate some wires.
