72 door question

Before i tear into these. What exactly is the dilemma with 72 doors? I know the inside handle hardware is different cause of the deeper door panel. So can you swap 72 hardware into an earlier door and use 72 panels or will that not work? And can i take pre 72 hardware and install it in a 72 door with shallow panels? thanks for your wealth of knowledge......

That's a good question, and I don't know the answer.
Seems like what you suggest might work.
But if you have all the parts for all the swaps you suggested, why not just install 72 parts in 72 doors?

All of the door hardware will interchange. The only problem with the door panels is you will have to drill out holes to "pop" the 72 panels on a 67-71 door. And putting 67-71 panels on a 72 door, there are no threaded holes at the bottom for the door panel to screw to. You can use self tapping screws to mount the top bar that holds the 67-71 panels on. I hope this helps you out.
