Price Check 1970 4X4
A friend of mine has been tring to sell this truck on ebay for three times now, and each time people have tried to scam him, so he is fed up. He told me that he would sell it to me for $1000, but it has its issues and has set a while as he left it at his farm 100 miles from his house. The mechanics are good, but there are added leaf springs in back (so he could leave it hooked up to his hay trailer all of the time) and it looks like it was a late 70's custom before he bought it in 1984. He has had the front end rebuilt completly (which he paid around a thousand for) the motor rebuilt and new exhaust put on it (which all have about 15000 miles on them)
Do you think with today's markets, that this truck is worth that? I did check and it does have a K title. thanks David

I would think so, especially with all of the rebuilds. No, let me say it differently. IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!!! I paid $999 for my 68 and it is a 2 wheel drive.

The body looks to be in rough condition but the drivetrain would be worth it.

The exterior is pretty beat up... prolly got rust issues... Looks like bald tires... the interior is shot. Look at the steering wheel and dash. Indian blanket layin' on the worn through seat.
I wouldn't give $1,000 bucks for it. Regargless of how much was spent on rebuilds. Gary

Re: Price Check 1970 4X4
Have to ask yourself why you want it. Do you want to make a buck on it then no its probably not going to be worth your effort and time to put into it. But are you buying it because you really want one of these trucks? If you are doing it for that reason then there is always good affordable used parts out there for these trucks. If the engine is good and the mechanicals are safe then I would buy it but only if I really wanted THIS truck.....Because projects always start with enthusiasm but seldom get finished unless that enthusiasm is kept up

Re: Price Check 1970 4X4
I think any 4 wheel drive that year is worth $1,000 since they are getting tougher to find.... I paid $900 for a 1970 4x4 with the body in the same condition but the motor was shot... I also got a 1971 2 wheel drive with it for parts.

Re: Price Check 1970 4X4
I agree, it's the four wheel drive that makes it a worthwhile project truck to me.

I would think if it runs and drives, it would be worth that BUT are you happy with it in that condition. As a basis for a resto, you'd be better off finding something in better shape.

Re: Price Check 1970 4X4
It really depends on what you want it for..it would make a good wood hauler / farm truck just the way it is. If he spent that much on the front I wonder if he converted to disc brakes? That would be a Big plus if your wanting a truck to build up.
Cant tell what kind of tow hooks are on the front..kinda look like 68 hooks mounted straight out. Did you ever get rid of your ochre and white 72?

Re: Price Check 1970 4X4
Thanks for the help guys, i have no plans to restore a truck right now, and seem to have enough trucks that i can't drive them all regularly, i guess i haven't bought a running truck for a couple of years, but remember when i bought a lot of trucks (2003-2005) that a running 4X4 was worth upwards of 1500 in any body condition, but i think prices have fallen a lot since then. I have no ties to this truck, and am kind of scared with the hacked springs and the 80's custom paint stripe and shaved emblems from back in the day.
Blazerman, i do still have it, i might have to reconvience my wife of our trade deal (that is if you are still interested) Seems like everyone wants to give me 5 grand for it, but i guess i'm stubborn and wouldn't come off that much. thanks David
