got a new one.... and the madness

You all may remember my 68 gmc short fleet 4x4. Well it seems near impossible to get a lift kit for one of these old girls and if you don’t have the dimple in the frame for powers tearing..... So when i got a chance to get a newer frame I leapt at it. here are some pics

Re: got a new one.... and the madness

As you can see bluey is a rusty 1970 gmc shorty step. Well like every one else on this site. I don’t like looking at rust. So after only about an hour or so of having bluey in my possession I did this.... Bella my parents dog was sad to see the truck go.... I think she thought it was hers. you cant walk beside a truck with out her beside you thinking there is a ride in store lol

Not the best mask to use, I will never do this again, even outside use the good charcoal mask. So tell me what you all think, this was all done over 12 days!

Re: got a new one.... and the madness

you can use the adapter plate from Captain Fab for the steering on the 68... I also used an add-a-leaf for a slight lift... zero-rate leafs, longer shackles and a rear shackle flip are other ways to lift them...

Looks good, especially in only 12 days. Nice El Camino too, I had a friend in High School that had one just like it but he wrapped it around a telephone pole

ah yes the adaptor plate,,, you loose turning radius when you want to go to the right.

Re: got a new one.... and the madness

I have to agree, the mountains are beautiful. those photo's were taken at my folks place in Keremeos bc. Canada. Living in Calgary with the mountains on the horizon, not in your back yard is a little hard to get use to some times. I don’t have any where to work on my trucks when I am in Calgary so I have to take time off and travel to the folks place. It is a great motivator to get things done because I don’t know when I will be back and the more trips it takes to get er done the more costly it becomes lol. I wish I took some pics over the long weekend when I worked on my engine. 17h drive time round trip makes it easy to stay focused. I just cant wait till the day comes when I get to drive the new truck home ha!

Wow, you've accomplished more in 12 days than I have in the 9 years+ that I've owned mine.

don't feel bad Tynee i only got that much done because it is a major pain in the behind to go all that way (1,600km round trip) to work on it. I wish it was sitting in a garage a few steps out my door. will be a few months before i get to work on it again. guess i will have to work on my other daily driver lol

Re: got a new one.... and the madness

That's pretty funny I was looking at the pictures and said to myself that looks like Keremeos read a little bit further and you said it yourself. The wife and I are from there. Bet you know some of our family? In-laws live right across the river from your parents place. Cool truck by the way, there is tonnes of the old pickups around there.
