68 rear view mirror

I'm new to the 67-72 Chevy truck scene. Had a 70 2wd long box I bought a couple months ago to fix up. Then bought a 68 3/4 ton for the wife to daily drive. wrecked the 70 2 days later lol the 70 had the inside rear view mirror mounted above the windsheild the 68 has no holes drilled for a mirror and no mirror. Whats the mirror look like and how does it mount. I'll also be buying a super nice 67 2wd 1/2 ton from my cousin and it's missinf the rear view mirror also lol

Re: 68 rear view mirror

Rear view mirrors were optional through 69 i believe. 67 was kind of a one year only that was like a wrinkle black finish. Some 68s i have seen were chrome, than 69-71 had the vinyl cover over the base. 72 was mounted on the glass. That should touch on the basics anyhow...

Re: 68 rear view mirror

I like the billet bowtie mirrors (not factory).

I got some cheapo aftermarket from walmart or something on mine (PO)

Re: 68 rear view mirror

my 68 factory install mounts on sheet metal above windshield about middle of the cab - I can grab some photos if needed

Re: 68 rear view mirror

most 67 - 69 trucks were not optioned with them, and many people went back to the parts counter when they realized this was not a standard piece. Due to this, there were a lot of mirrors that show up in the 67 - 69 trucks. Black, chrome, ribbed, not ribbed, flat metal, it goes on and on.
